Stretching Colors

Have you ever wondered if purple markers were created using purely purple? Have you ever seen colors change as they stretch? During the past week, for Science, our pre-kinder class got to see first hand how different secondary colors were created.

First, they marked the tissue paper with different secondary colored markers.

They were careful to separate the colors so that they do not run into each other.

These papers were carefully rolled up at placed on a tray filled with shallow water.

Soon, the colors took off! Stretching into different primary colors.

The children quickly recorded the changes on their paper. See the changes!

A quick note.
These science observation notes that students take will be sent home once every three months. They will be created into a science notebook.

Meet Jay

Meet our new school pet, Jay.
Jay came to us two weeks ago in a little plastic cup.
For our before dinner activity, we came up with possible names for our new, blue fish.
We had so many great names! But in the end, because the fish was blue, we decided to name it Jay.

Welcome to Rainbow Pre-School, Jay!

Squares, Circles, and Faces

Last week, the children in Thao teacher's class worked with circle and square shapes in creating their faces. Students have been working on shapes and facial features, so this was a great way in reviewing what they learned...

First, they reviewed where the eyes, nose, and mouth went on the body. Then they chose either circle or square shapes to represent each facial features.
(He's re-gluing his nose!)

Their shirts needed to be decorated with various sizes of circles, squares, and stickers!

Then they went on in identifying large body parts like arms and legs. Shapes were chosen to
represent these too.

Lastly, they glued hair to the back and their shapely person was done!
See how proud they are of their finished product! Cheese!
